What is Relaxation Massage?

Relaxation Massage is a full body treatment that uses medium pressure, gentle kneading and long strokes to help you relax.  It relieves stress and tension in your muscles and will leave you feeling overly relaxed with a sensation of freedom. The best news is that you can now have a professional mobile relaxation massage delivered to your door.

What is the difference between Relaxation & Deep Tissue Massage?

A deep tissue massage is for people who have suffered injuries or have sore/stiff muscles. Pretty much areas that need to be worked on. It can be very beneficial for individuals experiencing lower back pain, shoulder pains or headaches.

Relaxation massage on the other hand, is a long, full body massage that involves long strokes, gentle kneading, soft music and essential oils. It is a passive treatment and it is aimed at people experiencing stress, tension, or signs of depression.

What is the difference between Relaxation massage and Swedish massage?

Relaxation massage is often confused with Swedish massage because they are both seemingly relaxation type massages, but that is only part of the truth. The confusion more likely stems from the fact that some industry professionals are not fully aware of the Swedish massage techniques.

A relaxation massage involves medium pressure, long slow strokes and kneading (known as Effleurage & Petrissage techniques) aiming to relax and soothe your body and mind, lower stress and give you that post massage glow.

Swedish Massage involves not just Effleurage & Petrissage, but also another three Swedish Massage Techniques, Tapotement, Friction and Vibration. Tapotement refers to a percussion-style technique involving hacking, cupped hands or the tips of the fingers. These techniques are more commonly used to break up knots and are definitely not a relaxation experience, more like a Swedish one.

What are the benefits of Relaxation Massage?

Relaxation massage shares a bunch of benefits that you will enjoy.

  • Lowers your stress levels.
  • Lowers blood pressure.
  • Reduces muscle tension and tension headaches.
  • Removes toxins from your body by stimulating better blood supply.
  • Calms the peripheral nervous system.
  • Improves skin tone and appearance
  • With regular treatments it boosts your immune system.

How will i feel after a Relaxation massage?

After a relaxation massage you will feel rejuvenated and relaxed. You will experience greater range of motion, flexibility and a euphoric tingling sensation. A relaxation massage can relief tension, stress and subside negative emotions. You will feel like a weight has been lifted of your shoulders and ready to take on the challenges of everyday life.

This is my first massage. What should I expect?

Please make sure you hydrate yourself before the massage. Alcohol is a bit no no. If you are a first time client, your therapist will require you to fill out a consultation form unless you have already filled it out online during the booking process. Your therapist will discuss your main concerns that you wish to address during the treatment and determine if the selected treatment is appropriate for you.

It is important to make yourself comfortable. When the therapist needs to adjust your position, she will either move you or will ask you to move as needed. You can change your position anytime to make yourself more comfortable. While many people close their eyes and relax during a session, others prefer to talk. It is your massage and whatever feels natural to you is the best way to relax.

Can I have relaxation massage during pregnancy?

A relaxation massage is not an intense massage and can be had during pregnancy as long as there are no existing complications with your pregnancy. Having said that, we have developed a range of specialised pregnancy massage treatments that are safe for you and your baby. Check out our Pregnancy Massage instead, developed to ensure safety and to treat specific conditions associated with pregnancy.

I had a C-Section. Can I have a Relaxation massage?

C-section births have a higher risk factor than natural births because it is an invasive procedure. During the healing process, massage should be avoided. The C- section scar takes about 12 weeks to heal completely and movements in the wrong direction can aggravate the scar. For that reason, we can not offer a full body massage in the first 3 months after giving birth by C-section
